| Name: Son Pan Name alternatives: None Name pun: The pun on Pan's name is surprisingly complicated. To understand it see here First appearance: Manga volume 42, act ?, ep 289 (Grandpa Gokou! I'm Pan!) Appears in: Dragonball Z, Dragonball GT, GT TV Special Hair: Black Eyes: Black Race: 1/4 Saiya-jin, 3/4 Human Ki abilities: Flying and ki blasts aplenty. I'm unsure of the variety of her techniques. She cannot go SSJ, even though, according to GT standards, you do not have to be 1/2 as I previously thought. Vejita Jr. could go SSJ despite only being 1/8 Saiya-jin. Seiyuu: Yuko Minaguchi (Same as Videl!), Hiromi Tsuru (Same as Buruma and Bra!) American VA(s): None as of yet (But the final eps of Z are in the process of being dubbed, as well as Dragonball GT) Number of Hairstyles: 1 in DBZ, 1 in GT and 1 in the GT TV special Deaths: 0 |
| Personality: Son Pan has a very interesting personality. In Dragonball there is little to say but she loves her father, mother and grandparents very much. However, she is only four when the manga ends, so the depth of her character wasn't really explained. All that could be said was that she liked fighting. Even at four she was training under her father's guide. In GT, which is usually the greater reference used for the younger girls of Dragonball (Marron, Bra, Pan) she still enjoys fighting, but is not the total combat girl people take her as. In fact, she really likes dating. In the first episode she is dating a boy (they're going to see a movie) and is flattered when he calls her cute and pretty. He also calls it a dream come true, which means Pan must be quite the popular girl. I found that surprising, since by the way she dresses you'd think any guy to get near her would die. When the date ends in disaster (she beat up some bank robbers and scared him away) we find that she can also be quite vengeful. Also, Pan hates it when other people look down on her. She gets angry when her family treats her like a little girl, but stays fairly closed mouthed about it since she respects them. However, she is sneaky, intelligent and opportunistic. When Goten answers his cell phone before stepping into the ship which is to take him, Son Gokou and Trunks around the universe in search for the Black Star Dragonballs, she sneaks in and starts the ship without him. She's more of a 'normal' girl than any other girl in Dragonball. While the others tend to overexaggerate emotion, Pan seems to keep a fairly decent handle on the way she reacts. Love Life: While apparently a lot of boys like her, I can't say much about this. We find out in the GT TV special that she did, in fact, marry. But to who? Also, there is 'the great debate' of Trunks x Marron or Trunks x Pan. The main arguement for M xT is that Trunks and Marron are more compatible and their ages (27 and 24) are far closer than Trunks and Pan (27 and 14). The main defense for this is that Pan and Trunks spend far more time together. Both make decent arguements. I personally have no opinion on this, so make your own decisions. Importance: Son Pan has little relevance to the Z story, but is a crucial, and some might argue the main, character in GT. She travels with Trunks and Gokou to find the Black Star Dragonballs and is definitely the leading lady (so take a seat, Buruma!). She fights, rumbles and kills with the best, and I'm glad to see that she wasn't depicted as a damsel in distress. The only other female to have been given that much respect was Juuhachigou herself, and that didn't last as long as it should have. She also proves that her bond to Gokou is great, as in the later GT episodes were Gokou becomes the Golden Oozaru she takes hold of his mind and allows him to transform into SSJ4. She never goes SSJ herself, which is a major step back from the trend of the main fighters, and especially the trend of the Son family, being able to become SSJ. That barely seems important, though, as she actually co-stars, and is the only character besides Gokou himself from the Dragonball Z days, in the GT TV special at the end of the GT series (so what if she's over 100?)
