| Entry Two: Day of Rage |
| We found the Magistrate Bubba later that day. He was across the bad side of town, near his home. I wanted to hit him for our loss of gold when we went over there. At one point, the four of us needed to get directions and we located a noblewoman in the area that may have known where the Magistrate was. Then my theif's honor was insulted. I prepared to rob her blind since she could not provide us with proper directions and reached my hand out. Suddenly, I was in the air and over Lily's shoulder. "No! You aren't stealing from her." She told me as if I were a child. I certainly looked like one when I reached out at the noblewoman when only an arm's length away. When we actually found Magistrate Bubba, he was a down to earth hick. Bubba informed us that there were strange happenings in the forest, and that all who entered to find out never came back. He also mentioned a reward, and considering that we all traveled light on gold, we gladly took up the quest. Again we traveled through the bad side of town, and again we lost money. I thought to myself it better be one heck of a reward for this much trouble. The forest was quiet when we entered it. All around us was a bleak looking scene. We slowly went through, each of us with ready weapons. Soft music started to play suddenly, and Lily backed down in fear. Cephalo shook off some groginess as Dante merely scratched his chin. Looking at one another we all went towards it, dragging Lily behind us. "Whatever we were looking for, found us." Cephalo said breathlessly as we approached the source of the pan pipe music. A saytr sat on the bole of a tree holding pan pipes, a shortbow and quiver near it. Barely noticable, a second saytr hid behind the tree. Dante took up his waraxe and charged towards the one on the ground. Myself, Cephalo, and Lily all drew our bows and started to fire at the one in the tree. The one in the tree responded quickly by taking up his own bow and firing at me. The arrow caught me in the arm, forcing me to find cover. I ducked behind a tree and kept up my barrage on the saytr in the tree till I noticed Dante and the second one locked in a struggle. The barbarian's eyes narrowed, his breathing getting heavier, and brows furrowing. He reared his head back and bellowed. Dante had just gone temporarily insane. Rage over took him to the very core of his being and he started swinging his axe, hacking at the saytr with deadly force. The saytr in the tree dropped his bow due to an unlucky arrow that he'd nocked. He jumped down with dagger drawn, one of my bolts still in his shoulder, and came up to face me. The scream of his ally falling was enough to draw him away from me, and to Dante. Even though we kept the barrage of arrows going, it was Dante who slaughtered the saytr. He stood hunched over and breathing heavy. With two huge swings, he severed the head to both of the beasts and turned to us, his temper calming in the motion. Wordlessly, we gathered whatever we could use off the two bodies, and took their heads as proof they were dead to Magistrate Bubba. He was a bit surprised there were two, and was offering a fifty gold reward. With a little coaxing by myself, we received double the amount. I grinned to myself for doing such a good job at bluffing him. Before we did any more for quests for Magistrate Bubba, myself and Dante went back to the Inn to rest. Dante may be a filthy, ushaven person. Have little respect for anyone he doesn't understand, but I found a new respect for him, and reason not to get him angry at me. |
