A STOCKISH DAY

On arrival,
I was treated to the Big Boards little screen.
(I found it ugly, agonizing and mean).
There I saw the sliding serpent
loosing the grip on slimy wall
Grisly scene of
       descending graph of my fortune.

The wiseacres tip, to punch it
on the dip, did only dash it soon to ground.
As it fell, the hell street was seen
replete with blood of many a bull and bear.
And, as I stood on margin, watching
       furious fangs in fright,
I feared a venomous bite.

Was that scene the normal way,
       or orchestrated just that  day,
I do not know.
Magicians are masters of what they show.

I confess, and it does hurt: that
in that dirt, I lost my shirt.
My broker is safe so far.
(He only lost his terminal r)

Gosh! my trip to Wall Street was INDISCREET.
