Well 2 weeks have come and gone and I have heard no more from Shanna maybe she will call me again soon.. As I look out the living room window I notice that Ben's car is gone I quickly reach for the phone and call his house the answering machine picks up I hang up the phone. I slip out the back door and across the yard to his house I go around to his back yard I notice that there is a lock on his celler door but the lock is open.. Dare I go into the celler I thought to myself!!! With trembling hands I reach for the handle the door creeks as it opens I slowly go down the steps it is dark and creepy... I reach the bottom step and feel my way around for a light switch I run head first into a light bulb hanging on the ceiling.. I turn the bulb and the light comes on there are boxes and alot of junk every where. I take notice to a upright freezer in the corner of the celler and there is blood on it..........

I am 32 years old and come from Harmony Montana. I am a widow with 2 children a boy named Jack 12 years old and daughter Lisa 7 years old. My husband James passed away last year he was a Judge in this town of Harmony. He was a good man and great father to our children. As we pull up to the airport I see all these big planes and all of these people running back and forth and I wonder to my self if I made a big mistake in coming... As we go to the back of the cottage there are 4 rooms 2 are bedrooms and a bath room and a very large den there are filing cabnets on one side and in the middle of the room is a very large desk on the desk their is a picture it is of Shanna and Tammy in earlier years. You will be taking the Great Falls Montana airlines out tonight at 6pm that will get you here to New York JFK Kennedy Airport you will arrive Wednesday morning at 7.45.. Miss Fine please make sure the children have plenty of clothing.. It is very hot here shorts and tops will be fine and a couple of nice outfits in case we want to go out for the evening.. Miss Fine please make sure that you arm the security alarm before you leave and ask Mrs Perry our neighbor if she can keep patches our dog until we return and let her know I will pay her when we return.. There was complete silence all the way to the funeral home.. When we got there cars were lined up in the parking area and friends and family were going inside.. Her mom was beautiful she was dressed in a white lace dress her long hair was draped across her shoulders.. As we went to be seated I looked over and seen Stan standing at the casket alot of nerve he's got I thought.. As the service"s continued the pastor said beautiful words over Mrs Brownberry and a friend of her's Mrs Campell sang Peace in the valley it was very nice.. Then we all lined up one by one we went up to the casket and paid our last respects.. Then we got into the family car to go to the grave yard there was about 50 cars behind us.. When we got to the grave yard we all wept and said good bye to her.. Aunt Evelyn invited every one over to her house for a small dinner.. As we got back into the car we went to Aunt Evelyn's house there were just a few that attended we sat around and remembered Mrs Brownberry in stories.. I took Shanna to the side and asked her if she felt like going with me to pick up Jack and Lisa at the airport....... ********************* As I get into the car to go to the airport to pick up Lisa and Jack my mind wonders back to Shanna.. GO HOME LADY an officer snapped at me before you land in jail... As I started back to my house I seen the cops talking to Sandy and then she walked back into the house and shut the door.... And the police left.... Should I go back and talk to this girl I thought........ ----------------- As I started back to Ben's house a car pulled into the driveway.. I hide myself behind some bushes and watched.. The car door opened and Ben got out he went to the passengers side and opened the door and there stood Martha... Oh my Gosh I gasped it can't be... Martha I need to talk to you I yelled running across the yard... As she turned and looked at me it was very plain to see she did not know who I was... At that point Ben grabbed her arm and ran her into the house and slammed the door.. I went back to the deck of my pool and looked around trying to find some evidence of what happen.. I looked every where I could not find anything... I sat down on a lounge chair looking into the pool a shinny object reflected from the water in the bottom of the pool.. I jumped into the pool and swam to the bottom I grabbed the object and swam back out of the pool... I opened my hand and there was a diamond earring.... My Gosh I thought I knew it happened I am not going crazy.... What should I do now I thought confront Ben or go to the police?

As Woody lays there moaning for me to call for some help for him I am starting to get scared... What if he dies I thought I could not live with that hanging over my head.. I pick up the cell phone and call 911 and tell them there has been an accident and told them where they can find Woody... I went back to where he was and told him Lisen Woody someone will be here soon.... I took off walking into the woods I walked for a couple of hours and finally came across an abandon farm house it was dark and spooky but I laid down on the floor and did finally drift off to sleep... I woke up to the sun shinning in my eyes threw some holes in the roof of the house I got up and started looking around it was a nice house lots of rooms it had a wood burning fire place in the living room and a couple of chairs and a table in the kitchen and lots of spider webs all around... In the back of the house was a bedroom it was completely empty but would make a rather nice room.. As I went back threw the house I found a door it lead to still another room in this room was a trunk full of old clothes and papers I picked up one of the papers it read This house was once full of life and laughter but now it stands empty and soundless... I wondered what could of happened here.......... ---------------------- As I sit at the pool side looking at this diamond earring in my hand wondering if I should call the police back.. The phone rings... Hello I said... On the other end a voice whispers leave it alone!!! and then hangs up... That sounded like Ben's voice I thought... looking over the fence the lights are all out in his house but I notice a shadow in the upstairs window someone is watching me I thought... I ran back into the house and locked all the doors and set the alarm checked on Lisa and Jack and put the earrings in the safe then I finally went to bed... The next morning I got showered and dressed and watched out the window for Ben to leave.. About an hour later I saw Ben pull out of the driveway not long after I saw Sandy leave the house.. I must go over there and talk to Martha I thought.... As I rang the door bell Martha opened the door.. May I help you she said..... Martha it is me Darla I need to talk to you can I come in............... -------------------------------- As I stood there waiting on Martha to reply I could tell something was very wrong it was like she did not know who I was... She then answered me and said come in we sat at the dinning room table she asked me if I would like a cup of coffee.. That would be nice I replied... she was gone for about 10 minutes I began to wonder what was taking her so long Martha can I help you I yelled out... No she said I will be there in a minute.. As I sat at the table I noticed a photo album I opened it to look at the pictures there was a lot of pictures of Ben and Sandy but hardley any of Martha that is strange I thought... Just then Martha entered the room as she sat down I remarked about how pretty Sandy is and asked her how old she is she hesitated at first then said 14 years old you must be very proud I said!! I quess she replied with a strange frown.... I felt something was really wrong now but what!!!! I did not know how to start a conversation with her I felt very uneasy... Well Martha how are things going with you? I can not complain she answered sipping her coffee I noticed her hands were shaking.. Are you alright Martha? Do you need to talk about something? I seen her eyes swell up with tears as she turned he head away from me... Martha do you remember when we sat at this table and spilled our guts out to each other... Yes she replied.... I was in shock at her answer I knew something was not right and Martha just confermed it because I have never sat at this table talking to her... I thought to my self.. I reached into my pocket and took out the diamond earrings I was just getting ready to show them to her when the front door slammed.... I heard a man's voice yelling for Judy... As he entered the dinning room it was Ben!! He seen me sitting at the table and his face turned red I could tell he was full of anger.... I wanted so badly to question him about who Judy is but I thought no I had better not.. Well I had better get going thank you for the coffee Martha she just sat with her head down not saying a word... Here let me show you to the door Ben snapped... That is alright Ben I know the way out.. As I got to the door and walked out Ben slammed the door behind me... I stood on the porch for a minute and heard Ben yelling at this woman I thought was Martha............... ------------------------- As I stood on the porch I could hear Ben yelling at this woman I told you not to open the door and let anyone in... Then I heard what sounded like a slap I peered threw the window and seen this woman on the floor with Ben over top of her.. He was yelling and cussing her.. Should I call the police I thought? No they will not believe me... Ben I yelled banging on the window leave her alone I screamed at him... Just then the door flew open and there stood Ben... Get off of my property he yelled... mind your own buisness Darla before you get hurt... Is that a threat I yelled back at him I am not affraid of you Ben I said trembling inside.. Just then a police car pulled up and 2 officers got out.. What's the problem here one of them asked.. This man is beating his wife I told them sir is this right one officer asked Ben no officer she is crazy.. Call her out here and look at her I said he is lying officer.. Just then Ben yells for Martha and she comes running out side her face is red and swollen on the right side. Mame what happen to your face the officer asked her.. Did your husband hit you? She looked at Ben and you could see the fear in her face.. No officer I tripped over a shoe in the bedroom and landed on my face she said lowering her head... Martha tell them the truth I yelled at her... She is telling the truth Ben snapped back.. With that the officers told me to go home and then they left.. I need to find a way to prove that something is really wrong over there I know that is not Martha.. The next morning I woke up with this still on my mind as I looked out of the bedroom window I seen Ben leaving.. Just then the phone rang the voice on the other end said My name is Judy I am not Martha please help me............. --------------------- Before I could ask her anything she had hung up the phone. I ran to the window and looked out to see if I could see her she was peering threw the living room window at me. I ran out the door to her house I reached the porch and then knocked on the door to my surprise she opened the door.. I could tell she had been crying.. I need to talk to you but not here she cryed.. Come on we will go to my house and talk just then her phone rang I could tell she was terrified to answer it but she did.. It was Ben I could hear her telling him the doors are locked and no one was there then she hung the phone up.. This was a bad idea she told me and then she asked me to leave.. I became very angry hold on a minute I yelled at her you call me up and tell me your name is not Martha but Judy and tell me you need to talk to me and then brush me off.... Please leave he will be home soon please she cryed... Alright I am going but you can call me we need to talk alright? I promise now leave she replied... I no more than made it into the front door and seen Bens car pull into the driveway..... ---------------------------------------------- I seen Ben's car pull into the drive way and I watched threw the window as he went inside his house.. I seen him look over towards my house but I do not think he saw me.. I watched threw the window it seemed for hours then he finally came back out and got into his car and left again.. I waited only for a few minutes and then I ran back to his house and knocked on the door. I saw the curtain in the living room window move I knew she was watching me.. I rang the door bell several times and she finally opened the door.. Her face was red and swollen where Ben had hit her again. She started screaming at me to leave and telling me he would be back soon. Come on you are coming with me I told her grabing her arm and dragging her back to my house.. We got inside and went into the kitchen I made a pot of coffee and also got her a ice pack for her face. We need to talk I told her she hung her head and started to cry... I went into the living room and got the earrings from a drawer in the end table and took them back into the kitchen and placed them in front of her on the table... Well what is going on I asked her she looked up at me with tears running down her face. I could see she was scared to death and did not want to talk about anything.. Come on talk to me I can not help you if you do not let me know what is going on I said to her.. She picked up the earrings and held them tighly to her and said I am not Martha my name is Judy I am Martha's identical twin sister.. I was stunned I could not believe what I was hearing.. She went on to tell me that Martha was dead and that Ben drowned her in my pool and that her body was buried in Ben's basement.. My God Judy we need to go to the police.. I told her... NO she screamed Ben will kill me to... Why did Ben kill Martha I asked her.. Ben caught Martha with another man and they got into a fight and he threw her down the stairs and then picked her up and took her to your pool and threw her in she told me... Then why are you pretending to be Martha I asked her.. That is Ben's idea she said I have no where to go they let me live with them.. We have no family our parents died a long time ago... I am affraid of him he will kill me to he told me so.... Judy we need to tell someone we can not keep this horrible seceret to ourselves Ben needs to be caught... Judy started crying and begging me not to tell... I need to get back before he comes home she sobbed getting up from the table.. I walked her to the door and gave her a hug and told her that I would take care of it.. ----------------------------------------- After a while of carefully thinking about this situation with Judy I decided to take matters into my own hands. I knew the police would not believe me if I told them the story that Judy told me. And Ben was to slick he would find a way out of this if he knew that I even suspected what happen to Martha.. Some how I need to find a way to get Ben out of the house so I can go down into the basement and look around I thought!! I wanted so badly to confide in Judy about this but I was so affraid she would let it slip to Ben.. I even thought of taking Judy to the police and letting her tell the horride story but I knew she would not do it... Just then the phone rang Miss Fine walked into the room Mrs Craine a Miss Shanna Brownberry is on the line for you.. It was Shanna we talked for hours it was so good to hear her voice again.. She let me know that she was still in New York but would be coming back to Harmony in 2 weeks.. I could not tell Shanna about this not yet anyway I will wait until she gets here.. Jack and Lisa talked with Shanna for a while I went out side into the back yard and tried to think of a way to do this.. While walking threw the flower garden I could see that Ben's car was in his driveway.. I started to walk towards the back of their house and Lisa started yelling for me. Mom Aunt Shanna needs to talk to you she yelled.. I went back to the house and took the phone we said our good bye's and hung up the phone. I can not get this off my mind but I am going to have to wait.........
