The
following is a list of requirements and judging criteria
that should be met to enter your chapter’s Yearbook into Regional Competition.
The Yearbooks will be judged by an alumni panel and an
International guest, if available to do so.
Basic
Requirements:
- Each Yearbook must have an overall
theme. The theme may reflect the current Honors Study
Topic, but any is acceptable; however, the theme should
be carried out throughout the book.
- The Yearbook must include five divisions
as follows, in this order:
- “The Honors
Study Topic"
- "Scholarship”
- “Leadership”
-
“Service”
- “Fellowship”
- Each division should include activities
or events related to that division. Some overlapping
between divisons will exist and is unavoidable. The
chapter has the discretion to determine which division
an activity is best related to.
- The chapter may add additional divisions,
such as a Memorabilia division that would include souvenir
items or coverage of events related to the college rather
than the Society.
Criteria for
Judging:
- Cover
- Use of an overall, unifying theme
- Use of the Honors Study Topic and the
four Hallmarks (Scholarship, Leadership, Service and
Fellowship) in that order for divisions.
- Comprehensiveness of Contents
- Copy (including body copy, text, cutlines
or other types of photo identification)
- Presentation of materials
- Organization
- Clarity
- Neatness
- Creativity/Originality
Each yearbook will receive a rating
in each of the above six criteria. Winners will be determined
by a point value of 1-5, with 5 being excellent, assigned
to each criterion. No single criterion has a higher
point value than any other.
***These requirements
and criteria are the same that have been used in the past
for Interanational Competition
and were taken from the 2000-2001 Chapter Officer Manual.
