Why no peace on the land Of trenches wide long and bland The sound of guns and distant fire Upon this field of men and wire Dead men lie in the mud Of clothes so dirty stained with blood A war for men to win at cost Of life, buildings, land they lost There is more at stake to win the peace For one mans gain and one to weep Now the war is at its end For what price paid did we defend.
