Here is a picture looking through a cylinder lens of -6.00, axis 90.  Notice how vertical lines are sharper than the horizontal lines.

Here is a picture looking through a cylinder lens of -6.00, axis 135.  Notice how the diagonal lines from bottom left to upper right are more in focus.

Here is a picture looking through a cylinder lens of -6.00, axis 180.  Notice how horizontal lines are sharper than the vertical lines.

Here is a picture looking through a cylinder lens of +6.00, axis 180.  Notice how the width of the top left and top right windows are the same, but the height of the window looking through the lens on the left appears to be much taller.
