“Then why are you angry?” Elrohir asked, silencing his brother’s weak protest with a raised hand. “You were furious when you found the ribbon. Do not lie to me, ‘Dan.”
“I am not angry and I do not lie,” Elladan whispered, his expression hidden behind a fall of ebony strands. “I said I do not fancy her.”
Elrohir took a step back, all color draining from his suddenly rigid face. “What are you saying?” he demanded hoarsely. “Do not speak in riddles, tôren.”
Elladan raised his head to meet his brother’s startled gaze. “I believe you understood me perfectly, Elrohir.”
