West Coast Trip
This was my first real vacation that I took alone. I started in San Francisco and stayed there for 10 days. A woman who lived in a spare room for a while in my old house when I was younger, Ginni, offered me her great apartment in the Pacific Heights area even though she hadn't seen me since I was 8 AND she was out of town during the time I was there (some people are just really nice). I met this really awesome woman, Danna, and her 2 year old son, Daniel, a few days into the trip and hung out with them a little. I went with her, her son, her friend, and her friend's son to a nude beach. They didn't tell me it was a nude beach until we were in the car, and I didn't know how I felt about that. It turned out that I loved it- I definitely prefer clothing-optional beaches (saves money on bathing suits, right?). After San Francisco I took the train up to Eugene, OR. While I was there, I discovered "Hair" was playing at a community theatre. Of course I had to go. It was table seating (I guess they served dinner, but I didn't go for the dinner part) and since I was alone, they sat me with the only other single person there- a young, single, good looking, straight, man (what are the odds?). His name was Dave, and it turned out he was a friend of several people in the show since he did a lot of theatre in the area (I was wondering why a straight, single guy would be at a theatre by himself). The show was wonderful. After, Dave took me to the cast party with him. We didn't stay long at the party, but we did stay up all night together, hanging out. After the wonderful time in Eugene, I took the train up to Seattle. Seattle wasn't very memorable, except for the fact that it was sunny and hot the entire time I was there (this was the beginning of July). All in all, it was a good trip. That's where I learned I prefer traveling alone.
