Southeast Asia
In October 2003, I got to go to Bangkok for work. Work was a little slow (supposedly there were less people because of SARS), but I enjoyed spending my free time roaming the city (and sometimes getting lost). I also got to take a personal excursion to north Vietnam, which was wonderful. The highlight was the overnight boat trip on Ha Long Bay, 3 hours from Hanoi (especially at night when the clouds cleared long enough to reveal an almost-full moon).

One of the many temples in Bangkok
One of the many Buddhas in Bangkok
A pretty part of one of the temples
No jaywalking
Lots of commercialism
An exhibit at the Technology exhibition
Every morning, our convention opened up with a terrible marching band
Part of the Sukhothai Hotel
Fruit Carving at the Spice Market (I didn't really want to be in this picture but the hostess insisted)
The courtyard of the Regent Hotel
Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi
Boats on Ha Long Bay
More boats
A flat island
Some mountain islands
More mountain islands
And some more mountain islands (this is one of my favourite pictures)
Swimming in the bay
Cute picture of the dog that travelled on our boat
The sun started to peek out just before sunset
Managed to snap this one just before it went behind the clouds to retire for the night
And then the moon came out for a little while
Low tide
Me, Melissa, Garrett, Robyn, Lars (the cool crew who spent the night on the boat)
Is the rock balancing on the water?
Cute house
Prawns for sale
Outside the Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi
The Temple of Literature
Air Force Museum
Me and a helicopter (once again I didn't want to be in the picture but my motorcycle driver insisted)
Typical Hanoi traffic
Hanoi architecture
An amusement park in Hanoi
Me and Paula at the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok
Sunset near the Oriental
Boat on the Chao Phya River (yep, still near the Oriental)
Me and Supap on the last day of the show (I cropped the others since no one really looked great, but I wanted a picture of Supap up here [even though she's so much cuter in real life])
