Road Trip 1998
I seem to have problems with other people's vehicles on road trips. In June of '98, I was moving from Baltimore, MD to Phoenix, AZ. I didn't have a car at the time, so Josh was kind enough to offer the use of his car, provided he got to come along. Two weeks before we were going to leave, he told me his car had problems and wouldn't make it across the country. I was going to buy a car when I got to Phoenix (so I didn't have to worry about the tax and changing tags complications), but now I had to buy one in Maryland (and I had 2 weeks to accomplish that). I managed to find a decent, affordable car in record time, and soon after, drove down to Virginia to pick up Josh (since he still wanted to do this as a vacation). We drove through West Virginia to Kentucky and stayed with Steve- a Jethro Tull fan that I met on the Internet (this is the only time I've ever met someone in person whom I originally "met" online). He was a really nice guy who gave us food and shelter for a night. Then we drove through Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California (we went this long way so Josh could visit 29 Palms, CA- a small town where he spent several years of his childhood), and then Arizona. It was a fun trip.
