Tonight I fell in love with a woman.
Radiant, active, and feeling-
Illuminating, moving, and daring.
She gave me a lit stick of incense-
I glowed as I walked down Preston St.-
Into the dark and depressing town of Baltimore.
I ran into a homeless man,
Collecting money for whatever charity he happened to make up that night.
I gave him a dollar and my stick of incense.
Giving away that stick was like giving away my moment with the beautiful woman.
A brisk morning on the lake
The cool wind against my face-
Refreshes me as I remember the previous night
One long continuous conversation
With one topic unfinished as the next began
Stamps, drugs, war, sexism, children, parents,
college, Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, money, sex
Many interesting points made with no elaborations on any
An interesting, enjoyable evening was had
Now as I sit on the bed in the guest house-
Listening to the waves hit against the dock
I realize what was missing from my life-
Peace & tranquillity.
September 26 10:30 AM Baltimore, MD- Dunkin Donuts
Mumps, bumps, & warts
Gobbly goblins and flying broomsticks
Witches make their wicked brew
Orange-sprinkled donuts
Candy, candy, candy, candy, candy!
This day kids are allowed to take candy from strangers
Little ghosts, witches, dolls, cats, and the latest craze of the year
All walking around the neighborhoods
This is Halloween
Commercialism.
I hold my head up high
And try to run
But the net reaches out to get me
Holds me back to the positive and negative
Never let me go
The sights are too horribly wonderful to bear
Pull me off the ground
Into your world
That I so want to understand
Run with me, dance with me
Hop, skip, jump with me
Talk about fears and frustrations
Hold me into the night
The black night
I want to live there-
With you riding on a shooting star
Praiseworthy notes
Notes only a few can hear
Do you hear?
Deny the realities
Do not know the daylight
Live with me, be with me
And we can create our own shooting stars
Ride the night air with me
Can you understand all this?
Do you want to understand all this?
Bond with me
Contradict me
Debate with me
Care for me
We can make beautiful music together.
Sound the drums!
The festivities begin.
Be yourself
Engage in philosophical conversation
Dance naked in a wild frenzy
Talk to the voices in your head
Clap your hands
Stomp your feet
Design an impossible object
Hallucinate in the shower
Never deliver the obvious solutions
Beat a stick against the kitchen sink
Trap yourself in your bedroom for a week
Hum on the subway
Open your eyes
The worlds a big place
Observe different lifestyles
Accept flaws
Read books on obscure subjects
Never abandon a good idea
Be yourself!
November 14 10:30 PM Blacksburg, VA- Terry's apartment
Melt away from your daily life
Slip into your dreams
Floating on a sandbox cloud
Your feet never reach the ground.
Imagine another part of yourself
A part youve never met before-
A stranger-
Looking around at this world for the first time
See a fresh view-
Of places you have been to before.
Do you feel different?
Did you lose your daily reality?
Do you feel like youre a different person?
Do you know your whole self?
Do you like it?
Do you understand why this happens?
Do you fight it?
Or do you welcome it and let it guide you-
To a state youve never experienced?
Change is healthy
Accept this new part of yourself
Openly acknowledge your changes
Believe in your mind
Be strong enough to do right for yourself
Only you know what is right for you.
Find a medium for your own balance
Live in the moment
Understand your moods, thoughts, feelings-
And love them
They are a part of your whole self.
Be good to yourself-
You have to live with yourself forever
So accept yourself-
Your strengths, weaknesses
Ideas, feelings, problems
Solutions, failures, accomplishments.
You are always a worthwhile person.
Your days blending together like a Chagall painting?
One, two, three, four, five-
Day after day after day after day?
Go deep into the forest & contemplate your life
Dance in the morning dew
Experience the rising and setting of the sun
Live for the moment
Involve yourself in your life
Surround yourself with diverse culture
Try new things
Use all your senses
Believe in change
And each day will feel like a new song.
