| When we lived in California we didn't really need a "rabbitry" since we had a nice place on the side of the house with shade and a misting system. When we arrived in Missouri we realized a building was a must. It was hard to get anyone out here to give us a price since everyone was so busy because of the recent tornados. My dad decided that for the time being the best thing to do was to enclose a space under our deck. It has worked out great! Two of the walls are the exterior basement walls and the other two walls are metal siding. He framed in the area between the posts that hold up the deck and used metal sheets to make the walls. He also put a roof on it so that when it rains the water doesn't leak through the deck onto the rabbits. He installed a storm door with a large screen so that they have plenty of ventilation (he also put vents along the wall near the roof). The best part is that it is very well protected from storms and the window at the end is to the office in the basement so I can check on my rabbits without leaving the house! The rabbitry is 10' x 21' which is plenty for my rabbits with lots of growing room to spare. He also put in lights and electrical outlets so I can put fans out there when it gets hot. |
