• All Group A and Group B appointments in DGMS are made through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The UPSC advertisements appear in leading Indian news papers from time to time.

• All Group C appointments are made through Staff Selection Commission. All India examinations are conducted by SSC from time to time jointly for all Central Government appointments.

• All Group D appointments are made locally through Local Employment Exchanges.

• Only India Nationals are eligible for appointments in DGMS.
