Physical Characteristics Barangay Ettub- Ettub is under the municipality of Sumisip, approximately 8 km from the municipal town and about 8 miles from Isabela, the provincial town of Basilan. It has a total land area of 403 hectares. 2 hectares are residential and the rest are cultivated into agricultural land. Socio- Demographic Data Ettub- Ettub has a total number of 1, 759 populations, and it is composed of 5 sitios: Ettub- ettub proper with 288 population, sitio Datang 379, sitio Look 132, sitio lower Look (coastal area) 575, sitio Manikaan (coastal area) 385. The total IDP household families by purok: Ettub- Ettub proper has 18 families and sitio Datang has 24 IDP families. Yakan is the majority tribe which has 75 % of the total population while the Sama Bangingi has 25 %. The Barangay Captain has no radio. Sanitary Facilities and Ownership There is only one house that has a toilet. When nature calls they just sit down along the seashore. Access to Water Supply Villagers fetch water from the river about three thousand meters away from the barangay. They have spring water for drinking. Common occurring Illnesses Measles, Cough, fever, and skin deceases are the most common deceases in the barangay. Health Facilities & Health Workers There is no health center in the barangay. Municipal midwifes, pay visit the barangay once for every month. Economic Development Sector The livelihood of residents and IDP families is farming. They plant Corn, Peanut, Cassava, and other backyard vegetables. Houses are mostly made up of Nipa and Bamboo. Infrastructure Facilities There is an elementary school, which have six class rooms, located at the barangay proper. There is no regular transportation to the barangay. It took three hours or travel from Isabela, the provincial town. Motorcycle is the only transportation from Camp Tumahubong to the Barangay, fare rate of Php. 80.00.
