Barangay Profile: Barangay Baguindan, Tipo-Tipo, Basilan

  
 

 

Physical Characteristics 

Baguindan is a sitio of Barangay Tipo-Tipo. It is located at the hill top near Mt.Baguindan. It has a distance of 6 km. regraveling road from the municipal town and 66 kilometer from Isabela City.

The land total area of the barangay is 30 Square meter. Are agriculture is 90% Residential 8% Forest 2% 

Socio-Demographic Data 

The total population of the sitio is 2,500, which comprise of the Yakan All, the majority tribe of the Islam Religion,

Baguindan Proper 70, Basak 20, Badjah Maluha 50, Baybayan 10, Bato Maputi 40, Katohan 35, and Boleh Pansul 20. The total number of IDP families in the sitio is 245 Families.

Sanitary Facilities and Ownership 

There is no toilet in the barangay. People go to the forest area, far from their house, 

Access to Water Supply 

 1.5 km, Pipes, 50 meter from top to ground, spring water. Source from DPWH 

Common Occurring Illnesses 

 Sore eyes, Stomachache, Diarrhea, Allergy, Chickenpox, Measles, Cough, & Headache. Are commonly occurred in the area. 

Health Facilities and Health workers 

There is no health center in the barangay. Only BHW from barangay proper. There are hospitals from the mainland of lamitan visits only. 

Economic Development Sector 

Farming Vegetable, Cassava, Rice, & Copras, are the common livelihood activities of the IDP community.

Majority, houses are made of bamboo because they are accessible to lumber. There are also made of nipa and bamboo. 

Infrastructure Facilities 

There is Madrasa, Masjid, & Elementary School in the area, School is From Grade 1-5. Walking distance,

Jeep is the only transportation to the area from Buguindan that cost about Php. 60.00. It took about two in Half hours ride from Tipo-Tipo to the Baguindan Proper.
