Stock Market Project

 

 

In groups of two, you will create and maintain a stock market portfolio for this project.

 

Each team will be given $20,000 to invest in the stock market.  You must choose the stocks that you purchase as a team.  Each day in class you will be allowed to buy/sell stocks based on the previous day’s closing price.

 

You must keep a detailed portfolio of all of the stocks that you buy/sell.  The following information should be placed into your portfolio.

 

q       For each stock that you purchase, I would like for you to answer the following questions in detail.  This analysis should be placed as a cover sheet to each section.

 

1.    What is the name of the company?

2.    What is the ticker symbol for the company?

3.    How much did you invest in this company?

4.    How many shares did you purchase?

5.    What does this company produce?

6.    Does this company distribute dividends?

7.    Why did you purchase this particular stock?

8.    What was your capital loss/gain from this purchase?

 

q       You will also need to keep an accurate technical analysis (chart) for each stock purchased.  You must track this stock at least twice a week from the time of purchase to the time of sale or the end of the project.  I would prefer it of you would use Excel to develop and present your charts.

 

q       In your portfolio keep all research collected on the company

q       Any newspaper clippings that you may find during the tracking should also be included.
