| North and South Center Lakes Cary Sederberg July/2001 I have been fising these lakes for the past twenty years and every day spent on this water brings an enjoyable angling experience. Despite considerable tournament pressure this body of water continues to offer good quality and numbers of fish. North/South Center has many opportunities for most styles of fishing. Good shoreline cover and docks for the shallow fisherman. Reeds and pads, along with some good mid-depth weed growth. Exceptional deep water structure with many points and hard bottom situations. Some presentations that have been successful include, rattletraps for the mid-growth weeds, spinnerbaits/slugs in the reeds, jigs in the pads and crankbaits/worms and football jigs while fishing deeper structure. The docks are always a good bet for evening fishing leagues, with the time issue. I believe the best strategy for this lake is to find some areas with good hard bottom or rocks and to use either a worm or football jig. The docks will produce a decent limit, but the rocks will produce the winner. A good crankbait fisherman may also catch the big bag. All area lakes seem to be giving up good bags of fish on hard bottom structure as of late. A good flasher showing a double echo has been spelling SUCCESS. Matt and I fished Chisago on Saturday morning and kept count of all the bass we caught. The total tally was 55, with an average weight of 2 1/2 to 3 pounds. These fish came off of hard bottom in 10-15 feet of water. I am beting the fish on N/S Center will respond to the same presentation. GOOD FISHING Cary |
