| After missing Mink shows for a while, I finally got to see them again at their CD release show. This was a great show over all for many reassons. It had great groups all around (except one!), the venue was cool, and it was the CD release show! Even though this show rocked all the way through for the most part, it started out on a sour note. If this group Green Rode Shotgun is ever playing at a show you are going to attend, avoid them at all costs. If they had played one song, I might have liked them, but they got very old very fast. I didn't like them, but that's just me. If you wanna' check them out go ahead. You might like them. Well, let's just move on. Supercrush came up next. After the horrid Green Rode Shotgun set, I was ready for some good music, and Supercrush delivered just that! I had heard a lot about these guys for a while now, so they had a lot of buzz in my world. They lived up to hype with a great set of energetic rock and roll. Plus, turning a just alright song like "Bad Reputation" into a really good song is always a plus in my book. Finally, it was time for Mink. This night was all about Mink, and you could tell it. The place was packed for them. They came on with the powerful, rocking "Lie To Me," and this set the tone for the night. They ripped through a set of good rock and roll that anyone should love. If all was right in the world, Mink would be playing arenas every night with a sold out crowd, but since the world isn't right, a small bar kinda' place is cool. Every song from the new album "Full Rock Power" was played plus some new songs and a cover of "Girls Just Wanna' Have Fun." The cover was about a million times better then the original! Bass P came out and did one song with the band. I really don't like rap, and especially white rap, but he can rap VERY fast. I wish he hadn't been there, but he was good for a rapper. I can say I've seen one rap song performed live now, since I would never go to a rap show. After a lengthy set, Mink ran out the side door, but the crowd would not have it. They came back after the crowd chanted, "We love Mink," over and over to give a wonderful, powerful encore. The band's full rock power destroyed some equipment, but they got it working again before long to finish the show with a bang. The last group of the night was Asbestos, and I felt ssoo sorry for these guys. They put on one great show, and no one was there to see it. Everyone left after Mink, which is bad for the boys in Asbestos because they put on a great show. A good ender, even though Mink was the best group of the ight and should have ended. With the exception of one crapy group this was a great night of great music. If you don't go see Mink when you can, you are not very bright! Also, if you get the chance, see Asbestos and Supercrush. They are both very good and put on good shows. Long live rock! |
