MINK Live @ Windows on the Cumberland Nashville, TN 01-25-03(With The Del Giovanni Clique)
Windows is a cool place.  It's so small that the vibe is just great.  Mink left Nashville for a while on tour, and Windows was the last place they played. Tonight they returned.  The place was packed more than last time.  Also, tonight the reformed Del Giovanni Clique returned for the first time in sevral months with a new drummer and new songs.
The Del Giovanni Clique started off @ 10:00 PM.  They ripped through a set of a differnt kind of rap/rock.  Where as most groups focus on the rock element more than the rap, these guys do just the opposite.  The formula works well, and the guitarist is pretty good.  They played 45 minutes, but tonight was Mink's night.
Mink came on about 11:00 PM or so.  They opened with the usual "Lie To Me" and went through the regulars.  The crowd was great even though there were way too many people for that small place.  Bass P came on stage for a song.  It was pretty fun.
The highlight of the night was when Aljon propossed to his girl friend Kristen.  She, of course, said yes.  It was a very cool thing... sorry ladies.  He's now taken.  Everyone loved it.  I never want to marry, but if I did a Mink show would be THE place to propose.
The set went on.  Near the end, some very cool suprises where thown in.  When Jonda had to "go potty," Aljon sung on a Ah Ha cover, and Aljon & Henry shared vocal duties on a Bush cover.  When Jonda returned, they covered a No Doubt song!  Mink is such a better band than No Doubt, and this cover blew the original out of the water.  Then, they closed with "My Star."
This was a great night of great music.  Mink played for almost 2 hours and there was no filler.  Not many of Nashville's bands can say that they can do that; that's just what makes Mink such a step above all the others.  Can't wait till the next show!
