| Freshman year is almost over."Isn't it strange that.......you feel like you've only been in college for a couple of months but you feel like the friends that you've made, you've known for years? you are no longer in high school? once you stepped into your dorm room on the first day of college, you were handed a whole set of new priorities? instead of figuring out what to do Friday night, you are planning out your entire life?....no matter how hard you tried, keeping in touch with your friends from home seemed impossible? ....you know that no matter how little you keep in touch, you will always be best friends? ....you kind of felt bad when you started to make a new best friend? ....first impressions are so deceiving....when you look back, you can't seem to remember the first time that you hung out with your now close friends? ....the rooms that you never used to enter are now safe havens from the rest of the world and the room that used to be your second home is now like a foreign country to you? ....at the beginning of the first semester, your walls were covered with pictures from home and now, all you can see are pictures of your new friends from college ....you don't miss your bed at home as much as you did before? ....you don't miss your friends from home as much as you did before....you are leading a dual life? ....you are just beginning to realize how much your parents love you and how much you love them? ....once again playing in the snow with your friends can still make you laugh? ....you now understand the benefits of a GOOD CRY? ....you've just started to cherish the one who wipes those tears away? ....a little sing-a-long with your friends can cure any sadness? ....you are able to remember the words to every cheesy eighties song? ....Chinese food and McDonald's are now considered "real" food? ....when finding something to wear you now have about five closets that you can choose from instead of just one? ....now you can drink more than five beers without passing out? .....as you get older you begin to appreciate the little things more? ....to have a good laugh, all you have to do is walk next door? ....the good times never seem to end? ....there will always be that one girl or guy who makes your heart skip a beat everytime she or he walks by? ....tomorrow you could run into your future wife or husband? ....now it seems like our hearts are ready to fall in love? ....you've learned that a HUG given means so much more than any words spoken? ....while everyone else is getting older, you feel like you're still a little kid at heart? ....when you go home for break, you actually feel lonely sleeping in your room by yourself? ....when you're at college you miss your friends from home and when you're at home you miss your friends from college? ....you know that you could never forget the friends that you've made in college? .....you now know who you can trust and who are your true friends? ....your friends from home think you've changed and you can remember promising yourself that you wouldn't? ....you now understand what it means when they say a smile can speak a thousand words? ....you've now begun to understand the true meaning of the word friendship? ....no matter how much you wish for more time, it always seems to fly by? ....people are just beginning to see the real you? ....you don't see yourself as mature but everyone expects you to be? ....you've almost been living for two whole decades? ....we grew up in the 80's, we started our own lives in the 90's, and are now beginning to build the future for the next century? ....your first year of college is almost over and the summer is quickly arriving? ....soon, your best friend will be living in another state instead of just down the hall? ....in a little while college will be a part of your past, just like high school is now? ....you've just begun a new life with new friends, new loves,new enemies and new memories ....This is for everyone because we all know in our hearts that this is what we are constantly feeling. |
