| The Environment is one of the most important things to me, without it I,we, would not be here. WE need to make sure that we treat the Earth with the respect that she deserves. It should not be taken for granted , we need to ensure that whilst we are satisfying the needs of the current population we do not compromise the abilities of future generations to meet their own needs. This is the key to sustainable development, an idea that is very much possible if only the governments and companies with the power to enforce it actually make an effort. |

| One of the key causes of environmental degradation is poverty, those living in the poorest parts of the world, mainly in Africa and south asia, who hace been left with no other choice but to exploit the environment for their own survival. Something which illustrates this is the apes in central Africa being killed for meat, our closest relative whom which we share 99.4% of our DNA with , are being wiped out because these people have no other way to get food. This is where global organistaion, funded by the rich goevernments need to step in and help these countries to eradicate this problem. There is no quick cure I know but something must be done soon before it is too late. |
| The richest contries in the world consume too much , that is a fact. We consume at such a rate that the environment can no longer cope . We have already seen the effects of our mass consumtion and lack of thought in environmetnal alteration. There are many more areas affected by floods , droughts, storms etc. Look at the power failures that happened in New York and London last year.More recently there have been devestating hurricanes in the Carribbean.This is natures way of trying to correct the wrong we have done , and she doesnt care if we get hurt in the process. |

| Some Things you can do to help the environment and save money: |
| 1.Turn Off lights when they are not needed 2.Only Boil as much water as you need in the kettle 3.Don't use those disposble cleaning wipes, instead use cloths that can be washed and re-used 4.Recycle as much packaging as you can such as cardboard,plastic bottles,cans, foil as well as news papers and glass. If there are no facilities in your area then squash down bulky packaging so that it takes up less room in the bin and needs emptying less often 5.Put a jumper on insted of putting on the central heating, only have it on when its absolutely neccesary. 6.Close Doors, windows and curtains in the winter to keep the warmth in. 7.Use unleaded petrol ,and DO NOT BUY ESSO(EXXON) petrol 8.Have Showers insted of baths 9.Send E-Cards insted of paper ones 10.Most importantly have respect for the areas in which you live and work , don't dump rubbish fridges or cars in alleys and streets, dont drop litter(inc fag buts& gum), and scoop your dogs poop! | The environment has always been important to me ever since i was little , i even became a womble for the day and helped clean up my local river when i was in primary schoo! I have always tried to be as environmentally friendly as possible, from a young age i was taught not to drop litter and to respet the world in which we live. I also learned a lot from Captain Planet who i think is the worlds best superhero!(and i think it should be back on the telly. |
