Aguilera has turned to Whitney Houston material on several key occasions - her first talent show, her debut on Star Search, and on the demo tape that landed her the Mulan soundtrack. In her own material, Aguilera certainly shows an appreciation of Houston's vocal range and her ability to move from ballads to R&B material. We can only speculate that Houston's marriage to Bobby Brown inspires Aguilera's crushes on "bad boys" such as Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst and Eminem.

MARIAH CAREY
Aguilera's vocal gymnastics certainly nod to the versatile Carey and her scale-climbing approach. Mariah's also a New Yorker like Aguilera and found success just as quickly and just as young.
