MYSTERY

The mystery that remains behind Ed Gein however, is the death of his brother, Henry. It is thought that Gein may have in fact been the reason for his brothers demise so that he would be able to get closer to his mother. This motive though, is not substantiated, although it is quite possible that he did. Despite the fact that Ed killed older women who resembled his mother, it is possible that he could have killed his brother in 1944.
Whatever happened, Ed was definitely a strange character and there were some events in the early 1940s that were most probably Eds work. In 1942, Ed was invited over to his nearest neighbours house, the Banks. A female relative of the Banks was in the house at that time, wearing shorts; Ed was unable to remove his eyes from her legs. Later that night, a mysterious male figure broke into the womans house, grabbing her young boy by the throat asking where his mother was. The intruder however, fled before the child could tell him anything. The boy had recognised the intruder to be Ed Gein.
There are also some other stories that concern Eds possible involvement. One involved an eight-year-old girl who disappeared in 1947 and a fifteen-year-old who disappeared in 1953 after walking home from babysitting. No body was found, but bloodstained clothes were found. The evidence for this suspicion of the extra murderous activities of Ed Gein are based upon some body parts being found that were clearly not from the grave robberies or his 2 known murders.
