I remember how frustrating it once was to figure out and get the hang of worldcraft. I am writing this walkthrough tutorial as a resource regarding the basic use and learning of worldcraft. It is well worth taking the time to learn how to use WC so don't give up. Creating and walking through your own buildings is incredibly rewarding even if you no longer play Tribes 2 as much as you used to. Through the course of this tutorial you will learn:
-Basic brush (object, shape, whatever you call them) creation
-Basic Texturing
-Portalling
-Lighting
When you are done you will have a nice small room with lights, portals, and your own little design. This tutorial assumes only that you have installed and converted worldcraft for tribes 2 use.

Setting up your shape:
Go into tools-options-textures and select a texture file. For the purposes of this tutorial i used lush.wad. Make sure you only have ONE wad in place, here's comes your first tip: You -can not- compile an object with more than one wad in place. Moving on, Go to the File menu and select 'new'. Now take a look at the buttons to the left, you probably have no idea what any of those do -yet-, but click the one that looks like a plain white cube

Now if that last shot matched yours, You should have one window for each view, top, front, side, and a 3d camera view. I want to to do something special for the camera window, right click its title and select '3D textured' from the menu, by default it is in '3d wireframe' mode. Now you will be able to see your shape in it's visual entirety.
Now the fun starts, in the field titled top, drag a nice sized box (mabee 8x12) and release your mouse button. your screen should look a little like this:

Now press 'enter' and hover your cursor over the field titled 'camera' and look around using the arrow keys, to move around this little world, you use the wsad keys. This might take a little getting used to. Once you have a good view of your new shape (you should see it after a little manuvering, try going backwards if you can't see it.) then you already have half the work done in terms of figuring this out. Before pressing enter you can manipulate the dotted white box in and of the three 2d windows to get the desired shape, size, and placement. Be careful not to overlap brushes. --Texturing--
Now let's learn how to change the texture of an object, click that large red arrow button used to select things. Now click the object that you want to change the texture of (in any window, i find 3d to be easiest), if you try to select it in one of the top/side/or front windows you have to click the little 'X' in the center of the shape, However you do it, your shape will be highlighted in red on all views. On the right there is a toolbar titled 'texture group' with a drop down the menu that says 'current texture'

Drop it down and select the texture you want, then click the apply texture buttton in the left toolbar. It looks like a wooden cube. When you click it you will notice the texture has changed (look in the camera window, textures are not displayed in the grid windows). Use your new skills to create a room with one doorway.
