To My Friend

A friend's love is unequalled
Unconditional from the start
And that is why the hatred sears
When best friends part

Equal and opposite reactions
Truest love to bitter hatred
Caring friend to enemy
The hate is never abated

There, it is spoken
You are nothing now
You were the worst of thieves
And robbed me of everything
Took pleasure and left a void
Only to be filled with pain

But that has been removed
Lack of pain is pleasure once again
Hit me hard, it doesn't hurt anymore
Speak what words you will
I laugh at them as I laugh at you
You poor thing, you have lost this duel

I can't feel you anymore
And would surely delight in your pain
Tell me, mon ami, what is it like
Knowing that someone wants
Desperately for you to die?
Please, I need to know

Hatred now has grown
It is beyond all definitions
How is it possible to hate so purely
And love every second of it?
Yes, I love to hate you
You make it all so stimulating

Trapped in a mortal's body
Yet my soul is graced with immortality
No matter what you do, mon frere
No matter how you fight me
I'll always be
And you'll lose once more

So go on, amigo
Take me where I stand
Hurt me, I beg you!
And laugh at your pathetic efforts
I make you one promise, my friend
I will watch you die...

I wrote this based on the feelings I had for a few of my friends. It's very cold, and would imply that I hate these people, but it was just based on the feelings I had at the time I wrote it. I do feel that it is one of my best due to the emotion it carries. The beginning verses start it off as a fairly normal poem about friendship (just like all those sappy ones everyone has read) but soon they get into the poem's true intent. Then it switches to what could be a dialogue or a message to the intended receiver. Aside from that, it speaks for itself. The person to whom it is written is meant to feel like nothing after they read it, and also somewhat threatened.
