Just Words
I remember a time when all the world stood still,
When nothing mattered,
Nothing made any sense,
Except for the moment in itself.
The moon hovered full and shimmering in the dark;
Starlight pierced the clouds;
A cold breeze blew through the budding trees,
Yet a chill came not to my flesh;
The warmth in the cold was brilliant as a sun.
When at last I tore my eyes from heaven
And saw the eerie luminescence on earth,
Felt the heat,
Felt the touch,
There before me an angel stood,
Beautiful in her every essence,
Bathed in all the glory of Selene's regard.
She smiled on me and pulled me close;
We started dancing,
Angel and human being,
For the emanating love was undeniable.
I learned then an important fact:
That the heart has bigger drums than the ear.
The music at the time was inaudible
Until I opened my heart to its cadence;
And when I opened my mouth, the words issued forth,
Creating a beautiful song.
When the dance had ended, silently my angel returned to heaven;
Tears were shed as was love,
And only then could I feel the cold,
Only then did I get lost in the darkness,
Yet the moment will live forever in my memory.
It is strange to think on it;
Of all that happened,
Of all that I remember,
I think of the birds that witnessed heaven on earth,
And I know what they will remember.
They will recall the only thing they heard:
Just words.
