Horizon

Her eyes on all the world
As she steps off the plane.
She walks with determined grace
To embrace him in her arms.
Forever seems so close to them,
Taking comfort in their space.

Her eyes on the falling star
That crashes in the waves,
Creating a spark of light;
A soothing warmth in the cold,
A fire that burns the dark,
A reason to continue in the night.

Her eyes on the inferno,
Her embrace constricting
And smothering the flames.
The consolation gone
That once plagued his touch
As the darkness hides their names.

Her eyes on a single tear,
The last piece of the love they shared.
She tries to flee the burning pain,
But it's quick to consume her soul.
She watches as he hits his knees,
As his heart descends as rain.

Her eyes on the red horizon,
Her eyes on a bitter world,
And her love bleeding on the ground.
Her eyes on what she shattered,
Her eyes a bit too dry,
But now he makes no sound.

Her eyes on the chilling stone,
A marker in the earth.
She drops the flower and runs away,
Back to a new horizon.
She has the chance to start anew;
Her horizon brings another day.
