The Origin Of
The Ultra Acquaintances
Does Anyone Care About...
Now that we have a mass empire of fans, about one hundred strangely enough, I've decided to write about the origin of the Ultra Acquainmtances. The group is nearing its first birthday this upcoming spring, and I'd like to share their brief history.
One question I never have gotten is who was in fact the first Ultra Acquaintance member. Well, the answer to that less than interesting question is Space Toaster. Joe Botsch created him when he discovered the font "Space Toaster". He made up Space Toaster and his moronic plotline, and developed it to the UA standard of excellence we know today. Space Toaster traveled alone without a super hero legion for a long time, lonely as hell. He shared his ideas with fellow friends Paul Butler and Brendan Killion. Brendan quickly developed ST's obvious villain, Dark Space Toaster. Paul simply enjoyed the duo's rivalry for a time. They had moroinc boughts and such, but never wrote them down.
Eventually Che Salazar got wind of the two characters, and created his own super hero and villain team, Homeless Man and Tax Man. Mike Eidlin then entered the scene, and made the ever unliked Club bearer. The three fought along side, Space Toaster, Homeless Man, and Club Bearer. They took on Dark Space Toaster alone only for quite some time. Still, there was no Ultra Acquaintance title, just a stupid ass thing to talk about when hangin out. They also made one movie entitled "Space Toaster" which featured the group acting out their characters. Unfortunately this tape has been lost, damn.
The group shared their ideas at lunch with fellow friends Web Beveridge and Kevin James (not the fat guy on NBC). Unbeknownst to Che, Joe, Mike, and Brendan, the other two had other great super heroes lurking in the recesses of their minds.
Kevin many years earlier had a shoddy comic he made known as "The Excessive Justice League" which featured one special hero in particular: Ignorant Man. Ignorant Man was a hero that had forgotten his super powers and could only blow things up when he said the dirty F word. Kevin altered this hero into Foom Man, one of the most popular UA heroes.
Web had another hero in his head as well. He had a hero he had created some time ago known as Fast Guy. Fast  Guy had been simply an annecdote he used in super hero discussions, but quickly developed a plot line when asked about it at the faitful lunch table.
So there the group was, Space Toaster, Homeless Man, Club Bearer, Foom Man, and Fast Guy. The group was going to then create more villains, but had one major problem: they needed the good guy group's name. They quickly adapted to Che's idea, The Ultra Acquaintances. They talked on and on about the group and their adventures. Villains and random characters soon came easily, as the group aided the others with ideas. Boom Dude, Foom Man's arch rival, was created by Web. Cheesus, Fast Guy's arch nemesis, was created by Kevin.
Well, all was to be set in stone when the groups friend Paul got mono. Due to his vast laziness caused by mono, they made a hero in his honor, Mono the Psycic Guerilla. When Paul became better, he maintained this hero and created his villain, personality, etc. Now that they were assembled, there was a new task: how to execute them.
Joe made several stories, but really didn't record them in any way. Videos weren't much of an option, as they took too much time and the group couldn't meet up often outside of school.  Things were looking dark for about a week or two.
Che and Joe, AOL clients, made web pages in their honor, which sucked big time. This is where the group's new found medium took charge. Kevin created the Foom Man web site, which was a giant leap. It featured actual pictures of the group, a story, and various downloads. He eventually made Flash movies which made the site's traffic become rather large considering they had no advertising. Joe soon followed and made a site on Geocities,  completely abondoning his old one. The new site was much better than before, and was similar to Kevin's. Soon, Brendan created the Dark Space Toaster Evil Site, Paul made a Mono Page,  and more are to come.
The group added "Nomadic Pyro", and a new creator named John Binbutel. The group's popularity has grown dramatically lately. The group really doesn't care about a fan base, but the amount of people who care about them has grown to about thirty now, wow. Even though some member won't admit it, the UAs have become a popular group.
So there you have it, the UA history. Hopefully we can kill off Club Bearer- I MEAN develop some better stories and even pay $8.95 a year for a domain name. Yippee

* FYI: Brendan doesn't think I have the best UA site, nor does he believe anyone outside the UA group visits the site.
