Vanishing Coin # 1
I made up this trick. It takes a lot of practice, but the effect is worth it. Effect - You hand out a coin for examination. You spin it on the table and wave your hands around it. The coin vanishes in thin air. You show your hands and they are empty. Method - No preperation is needed except you need to be at a table. You can do this with a borrowed coin (quarters work best) or your own coin. Spin the coin on the table near you. This is the hard part. Wave your hands a few inches above the coin. When you wave your right hand over it the 3rd time, grasp the still spinning coin between your thumb and index finger. Immediately after you do this, lift your hand up a couple of inches to stop any sound from the quarter. Keep on waving your hands over the spot where the quarter was. Bring your right hand over your lap and drop the quarter. Slow down the waving and show both of your hands as empty.
This trick has one sleight in it that is going to take a long time to perfect, but don't quit because you will regret it if you do. Effect - The magician moves a coin around a table to find its "soft" spot. The quarter is then pushed through the table and is taken out from underneath. The coin can even be signed. Method - There are no props in this trick, just acting and sleight of hand. Take the coin in your left hand and move it around the table saying that you are going to find it's soft spot. Pick a point on the table and say "Ah, here it is". Do a fake pass to the right hand. One of the ways this can be done is to hold the coin with one side against your middle and index finger and the other side against your thumb. When you first do this, accually place the coin in your right hand. Do this motion several times until you have it very smoothly. Now do the same motions, except don't put it in your right hand. Carry it away back to the body. Take the empty right hand and put it over the table making it look like you have a coin in your hand. At the same time, take your left hand and put it under the table with the coin. At the exact same time, bang the quarter (and fake quarter) against the table 3 times. Show the spectator that your right hand is empty and take your left hand out with the coin. Another good ending is to drop the coin onto the floor right after the 3rd bang.
Coin Through Table #1
Coin Bite
This trick uses the palm and requires a lot of time to make the gimmicked quarter. Effect - A borrowed quarter is taken by the magician. The magician takes a bite out of the quarter and then blows on it to make it back to normal. Method - The secret to this trick is a fake quarter that you have palmed in your right hand. To make the fake quarter, take a real quarter and saw off a corner of it (or more if you want it to look better) (figure 1). You can also buy ready made quarters that really look like you took a bite out of it. Take a borrowed quarter and do the thumb palm switch (pretend the notes are quarters). Take the fake quarter in your hand with the back of your hand towards the spectator. Dramatically take a bite out of the quarter and show it to the audience. Do one more thumb palm switch and hand the real quarter back.

Vanashing Coin # 2
This trick is a lot harder that # 1, but it is way more impressive because you make 4 quarters one at a time disappear. Effect - The spectator lends the magician 4 quarters. The magician asks the spectator to name a card and the magician takes that card out of a deck. He places the 4 quarters eagle side up (because eagles can fly) on a table and covers them with the card. He takes his hand back and shows that both his hands are empty. He lifts up the card and only 3 quarters are there. He does this with the other 3 quarters and walks away with a dollar. Method - This tricks uses the basic "matrix clip". The secret to this is picking up the card. To do this, you have to move the card forward until you can feel the end of a quarter. Put your thumb on the quarter and pull it back at the same time that you lift the card from the opposite end of the quarter. With the card slightly slanted, slide the quarter behind it on top of the card and lift up the card. Pull the card out from your hand and thumb palm the quarter. With the hand that is holding the card, place it facedown over the quarters again. Using this as misdirection while you drop the palmed quarter in your lap. To the audiences point of veiw, it looks like the quarter vanished. Do everything described in the effect using the matrix clip to make the coins dissappear. When you get up, place the 4 quarters in your pocket, or a bag or something to hide them in. A good ending is to palm the quarters and grab the spectator with that hand. Drop the quarters in their pocket while telling them to stand over to the left. Ask the spectator to reach in their pockets, and the quarters will be there.
