Chad would often take images I had sent and 'treat' them. In early 2000 I was thrilled to curate a Sydney showing of Chads conceptual sculpture Darlo Homo, Chads first exhibit in Australia and the last public showing of Chads art while alive.
The Truthbary documents some of the images and poetry Chad Witt created during our four-year friendship, many of the images are from Chads 'treated' versions of original photography of mine. Chads own voice narrates snippets about himself, and one of his musical compositions provides the soundtrack.
The film is in a minimalist style in keeping with Chads own tastes.
Three of Chads images in the film have been further 'treated' by me, making The Truthbary our final collaboration.
It was screened at the Sydney Squatfest Film Festival in 2008.
