Viele Jugendliche träumen von einer Karriere als Musiker -
die vier Mini Beats haben diesen Traum Wirklichkeit werden lassen. Das ist ihnen auch in dem Video von Volker Stockel deutlich anzu- merken. Am Anfang des Videos heben die vier Mini Beats erst mal ab, wortwörtlich, mit einem Hubschrauber. Das heißt aber nicht, dass sie abgehobene junge Menschen wären, fernab jeder Realität in einer Traumwelt lebend. Nein, genau das Gegenteil ist der Fall. Sie sind ganz normale Jungen, mit all ihren Alltagssorgen aber auch Freuden. Diese Normalität klingt auch an im ersten Kapitel des Videos, "Die Jungen stellen sich vor" In einer schönfärberischen Werbung à la BRAVO würden nur die Sonnenseiten des Showbusiness und des Privatlebens zum Zuge kommen. Aber hier ist der Filmemacher das Wagnis eingegangen, die echten Jungen zu Worte kommen zu lassen, die die Mini Beats nun mal sind. Sie sind keine Engel, obwohl sie manches Mal so wirken. Und so gibt es in ihrem Zusammenleben als Band auch Querelen, die in den Interviews auch zur Sprache kommen. Das Kapitel "Wie alles anfing", beinhaltet die Umstände, wie jeder der Jungen zur Band kam. In einem weiteren Kapitel, "Lampenfieber", spricht jeder von ihnen über die Bewältigung des Problems, mit dem jede Showgröße anfangs zu kämpfen hat. Hier kommt auch Philips Vater, Paul, zu Wort. Er betreut die Mini Beats auf Reisen. Er macht klar, dass die Mini Beats eben keine künstliche Boygroup sind, sondern einfach musikbegeisterte Kinder/Jugendliche, die ernstgenommen werden wollen. Ganz großartig gelungen und zum Schmunzeln anregend ist der erste Videoclip der Mini Beats zu dem Song "Twist and Shout", ganz im Stil der 60er Jahre. Im letzten Kapitel, "In der Zukunft", spricht jeder der vier über seine Zukunftspläne und -träume. Und auch hier zeigen die vier sehr reife Äußerungen, die alles andere als abgehoben sind. Manchmal allerdings auch mit einem Augenzwinkern, wenn etwa Philip sagt, er werde entweder "Musiker oder Müllmann". Die englischen Untertitel sind für deutschsprachiges Publikum nicht so wichtig. Leider sind sie zum Teil sehr frei übersetzt...
Den vier Mini Beats möchte man eine lange Karriere zusammen wünschen, denn, mit Philips Worten, "Eigentlich sind sie alle... lieb!"

Many young people dream of a career as musicians -
the four Mini Beats put this dream into reality. This is also their distinction in Volker Stockel's Video. At the beginning of this Video, they take off, quite true to the word, up in the air, by helicopter. This does not at all mean they were young people up in the clouds, far from reality, living in a dreamworld. Quite the contrary! They are totally normal boys, with all their daily sorrows and joys. This normality also is the tune of the first chapter, "Introducing the boys". Had the video gone through "beauty-treatment", like in any teenie-magazine in the world, it would only show the sunny side of showbusiness and private life. Instead the filmmaker dared to present the real boys which the Mini Beats are after all. They are no angels despite their appearances sometimes. And so in their life together as a band there are some grumblings which are also expressed in the interviews with the boys. The chapter "How they got started" contains the circumstances how each of the boys became a member of the Mini Beats. In the chapter "Stage fright" , each of them speaks about his dealings with the problem, any person in showbusiness has to fight in the beginning. This is also Paul's time to speak out. Paul is leadsinger Philip's father who also takes care of the four boys whenever they travel. He makes it quite clear, that the Mini Beats are no artificial boygroup, but musically enthusiastic children/youngsters, who want to be taken seriously. There follows a a marvelous videoclip, the first one the Mini Beats ever made, of the song "Twist and Shout", styled like in the 60ies. This one really makes you chuckle. During the last chapter"About the future", each of them talks about his future plans and dreams. And even here you get quite ripe quotations, which are not "up in the clouds" at all. Sometimes they are expressed with a certain twinkle of the eye, when, for example, Philip says he would become either "a musician or a dustman"("sanitary technician" in the subtitles is a bit far-fetched). The English subtitles are not so important for the German-speaking audience. I am afraid they got translated very freely ...
The four Mini Beats deserve our best wishes for a long career together, for, said with Philip's words (about his three friends), "Actually they are all ... sweet!"
