| This is a condition of the eyelid. The presence of abnormal eye lashes growing towards the eye. Usually on the lower lid which is typically without lashes. Another disease which is increasing in frequesncy due to breeder disregard. Given that it can cause constant discomfort or pain to the affected dog and left untreated may result in severe corneal scarring, it does have a significant impact on health. The only treatment is the removal of the lashes through surgical excision or a local freezing procedure known as cryosurgery. It is thought to be dominantly inherited, but with lack of studies we can not be sure. |
