| This page is just sooooo necessary to me lol so here goes! On Friday March 28, 2003 my hugest dream came true! I was lucky enough to be able to meet my idol Ann-Margret for a few very special moments after her AMAZING new show "Here! Now!" in Vegas! Here's what happened. Ok so Friday night I have 3rd row seats (Sat. it was front row center and AMAZING!!!) so multiply the happiness of everything I say for Friday times a million for Saturday! It starts out with a video remix compilation by the always amazing Dan-O-Rama of movie and TV special clips. After the lights go up her 4 great male dancers come onstage and singing "The Telephone Hour" from Bye Bye Birdie then the lights go down for about 5 seconds and when they come up there is A-M in all her gorgeousness!!(she looks EXACTLY how she does in pictures!) and she's soooo tiny! She's wearing this incredible Bob Mackie creation. long sequin black and silver pants suit with huge sequined sleeves! and she starts singing and LOL her little cell phone rings and she pulls it out of her shirt and does this little cell phone parody and starts talking about Roger Smith (who was in the audience both nights) and it's so cute! She's talking about her marriage and says "there's only 3 little words for a successful marriage....."I....was....WRONG!" LOL!! The second number she climbs this winding staircase and sings A lot of livin' to do from Birdie. Then she does a GORGEOUS rendition of "I should care/More than you know" and her voice if you dont already know is just soooooooooo beautiful! it's like velvet! I swear she just gets more and more incredible!! The next number she opens by saying "there are many sounds I enjoy such as the sound of rain in springtime, a child's laughter, and the purr of my kitty when she curls up in my lap. But there's one sound I love more than anything in the world..." and then you hear a super loud motorcycle engine roar and this is my FAV line of the evening "That AIN'T my kitty!" where upon she changes into her red fringe costume from Whorehouse and some tinted sunglasses, stradles her Harley and sings "Man! I feel like a woman" by Shania Twain while her dancers are all over her and tossing her up in the air. Then she segues into Elvis' "A little less conversation" and goes backstage to change by saying "excuse me while I slip into something EXPENSIVE!" hehe=D She comes back in this GREAT pink corset top with pink and black bellbottoms, sits down and sings The Little River Band's "Take it easy one me" which I just LUVVVVVVED! a lot of people said it was an odd choice but her co-star Gary Sandy introduced her to it while on the Whorehouse tour and I think it was just beautiful!! Then she does "24 Hours" from Whorehouse where she dances her little butt off! She totally stunned me allll night with what she did! Then she did the beautiful Swedish folk song her mother taught her as a child "Violets for mother" and a really kewl medley of songs from Tommy! (she did Pinball Wizard, Christmas, and Listening To You) Then she did "My Sweet Orchard" and Sat. when she did this one she sat on a stool exactly in front of me so I was totally spazzing out, and LUVING it!! Then she sang a beautiful Italian song and goes back to change for what is my FAV number, her disco medley!! They start by showing more Dan-O-Rama clips from her disco performances and she comes out in this breathtaking Bob Mackie mini dress made of gold and black sequins and this osom criss cross back! She sang "knock on wood" and "can't get enough of your love, babe" and as she does this she's really dancing like crazy and it's GREAT! the audience was loving it, especially me!! then her dancers lift her offstage and she runs around the audience touching peoples hands!!! def. the greatest part!! She closes with a FAB rendition of Viva Las Vegas and the most beautiful song EVER, "Once Before I Go" which was written for her by Peter Allen, and I'm sobbing my eyes out by the end of it and the audience is on their feet! before she leaves the stage she goes around the front row and shakes everyones hand, including mine!! hehe! Oh! and Saturday night I bought her some orange/red roses and handed them to her onstage after she finished "Knock on wood" !! It was just...WOW!!! The best thing I've ever seen, ever!!!! Ok so now I'll get to how I was able to meet her, if you're not bored yet lol. So Friday night I come to the show armed with a long letter to her telling her how much I love her along with a motorcycle pendant I bought her. The usher who seated us said no one would be allowed backstage without being on a list or getting through security. So at this point I start crying..yea...that's me! wayyyy over emotional! hehe. anyway He's like wow..your so young to love her this much and says that "he has his ways" and will get the note back to her. So I was happy with that and didn't really think I had a chance to meet her. Well after the show the usher gives my letter to one of the guys in her enterage of dancers and my grandmother and I sort of follow hom backstage lol. no one really thought twice about it as far as I know and some people were saying to just hang around. I met Gary Sandy backstage too! he was really nice (He toured with her in Whorehouse) After like 12 minutes she comes out of her dressing room looking radiantly beautiful and just sooo happy!! she starts talking to people and then comes over to me and I about fainted! lol I told her a bunch of stuff and I think I said "I just love you soooooo much" about a million billion times! lol and she's just soo sweet and was like "oooo thank you so so much, that's sooo sweet!" and she hugged me and everything! lol and then she's like "hey! and you're a redhead too!" hehe and it was just FABULOUS! she's sooo sweet, and adoreable, and everything I thought she would be, and more!!!!!!!! I just love her soooooooo much!!! and that truly was the greatest moment of my life. I feel soo lucky:) That's pretty much my little story! |
