How To Make The Window And
Curtains
What you need: A small, plain wooden photo frame, a photograph or a small painting, a wooden barbecue stick, a knife, two beads, fabric and thread, two pieces of ribbon and glue.
Put your picture in the frame; the frame will be the window. Cut two pieces out of the fabric, their width about 3/4 of the width of the window, and their height the same as the height of the window plus 4 cm. Sew each of the two pieces as follows. Fold half a centimetre from three of the sides towards the back of the fabric. (One of the sides that is 3/4 of the width of the window is left unfolded.) Topstitch the folded edges neatly. The picture shows the right side of fabric in yellow, the wrong side of fabric in blue and the topstitches in red.

Fold two centimetres from the remaining edge and topstitch in place. Inside this fold there should be enough space for the barbecue stick. Again, the right side of the fabric is shown in yellow, the wrong side of the fabric in blue, and the stitching line in red. (The previous folds are not shown.)

Cut the barbecue stick so that it is about 2 cm longer than the top edge of the photo frame. Sharpen the ends of the stick so that the beads can be stuck onto the ends.

Remove one of the beads and put the barbecue stick through the top folds of the curtains. Replace the bead so the curtains won't slip off the stick.

Attach the ribbons onto the sides of the window frame with glue, about halfway up the window. The ribbons should be attached at the middle so that they can each be tied into a bow. The yellow spots on the picture show the drops of glue.

Attach the curtains to the window by glueing the beads onto the top corners of the window frame. Tie the curtains to the sides with the ribbons.

Place the window on the wall of the stand. You can also put a mirror or an important note - a timetable, for example - in place of the picture.
