How To Make The Toy Box

What you need: Strong cardboard, scissors, brown paper and glue.

Cut two pieces out of the cardboard. One is to be the bottom and walls of the box, the other is to be the lid. The lid should be a bit larger than the bottom of the box, so a part of it can be folded inside the box when the box is closed. Make folds in the two pieces as shown.

Cut the same pieces out of the paper, only this time they should be joined together as shown. Make the same folds on the paper.

Cut another strip of paper, as wide as the box is high, and long enough to reach all the way round the sides of the box. Fold the sides of the box so that they are at ninety-degree angles to the bottom of the box, and glue this strip of paper round the box.

Now glue the paper onto the box.

Glue the cardboard lid onto the paper. The paper is like a hinge that allows the box to be opened and closed. The edge of the lid is folded so that it helps to hold the box shut.

You may want to make the toys first; this way it is easier to make the toy box the right size.
