How To Make The Fence And Gate

What you need: Ice-pop sticks or any other wooden crafts sticks, thin and rounded wooden barbecue sticks, glue, paint and sellotape.

Cut the ice-pop sticks into pieces of equal length. If you want, shape each of the top ends into a point. Be careful when cutting ice-pop sticks with scissors, because they splinter easily. You can smooth the cut ends with sandpaper. Place the pieces in a row, making sure they will make the correct length of fence. The picture only shows four pieces.

Cut two pieces of the barbecue stick that will reach from one end of the fence to the other. Place a drop of glue at the top and bottom of each fence piece, and press the barbecue sticks in place across the fence.

To make the gate, first make two gate posts. These can be made from grey clay, or by glueing together a number of ice-pop sticks on top of one another to make a thick pillar. Then make a short lenght of fence and attach the ends of the barbecue sticks to one of the gate posts with sellotape (shown red in the picture). Don't sellotape the pieces together too rigidly, so the sellotape can act as hinges and the gate can be opened and closed.
