How To Make The Apple Tree

What you need: Brown pipe cleaners, acrylic paint, green crepe paper, polyester thread, wooden beads and brown knitting thread.

Twist a couple of pipe cleaners together to make the tree trunk. At one end, spread out the separate pipe cleaners to make the branches and at the other end, do the same to make the roots so the tree can stand up.

To give the tree trunk a more authentic feel, you can paint it with a mixture of brown acrylic paint and a small amount of sawdust. Cut small squares out of the crepe paper (the side of the square should be about the same length as the diameter of the tree), fold in half against the grain (the red line in the picture) and pinch together along the folded edge.

Tie a piece of thread around the pinched edge (shown in red) and spread out the bunch of "leaves".

Make several of these and either tie the pinched ends together, or glue the bunches of leaves to one another, to make a ball of crepe paper. Glue this ball onto the tree trunk.

Make the apples from the wooden beads. Either use red beads or paint the beads red. Put a short piece of brown knitting thread through the bead and apply some glue to stick it in place. Trim one end of the thread very short and attch the other end into the foliage of the tree with glue.
