My name is Laverne Reynolds. This is my personal Homepage. I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Mother of 2 sons, a WaterColor Artist, a Dollhouse Miniaturist, disabled, and have Mini - a Shihtzu/Maltese who shares my life and is my assistance dog. I challenge any one to a race with my electric wheelchair! |

My disabilities are a combination of problems that my family dubbed "alphabet soup" (FMS, CFS, RA, CTS, TA, GERD, IBS, TMJ, along with asthma, migraines, Mennierre's, vertigo, and heart trouble). Despite the difficulties that my health has brought, I try to always look for the CANs instead of the CAN'Ts. And it has made my faith in the promises found in the Bible much more important. Rather than looking on things as bleak and hopeless, the Bible shows that there is cause for joy. |

I've often had people ask me how I can find that joy in my life and keep a positive outlook. First let me say that I am NOT ALWAYS cheerful or positive (just ask my family!) But I TRY to be and one thing that helps is to consider Bible examples like the apostle Paul. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10) He had what he called a "thorn in the flesh". Jehovah God didn't see fit to tell us what Paul's health problem was - probably because then we might not apply the principles involved to our circumstances. But we do know that it bothered Paul enough for him to ask Jehovah to please remove it. Jehovah didn't remove it though ... He helped Paul develop a scriptural way of looking at the problem. Paul was helped to see that it was still possible to be happy and productive ... reasoning something along the lines of: "I'm better off with this problem. Now when people see what I am doing in Jehovah's service, they know it is not on my own strength. They can see my bad health. So, they will give credit to Jehovah. Therefore, I am better off with this weakness." So, by trying to keep this same attitude in myself, I can have joy! |

Another thing that helps me to be encouraged are the many Bible prophecies that show we live in a time period that the Bible calls "the Last Days". Those prophecies show that this time period will be brought to an end as Jehovah ushers in a Peaceful New World with Jesus Christ in place as it's King from his Heavenly throne. Just imagine, in this Paradise earth, all sicknesses and physical infirmities will also be healed! God's Word assures us: "No resident will say: 'I am sick.'" (Isaiah 33:24) I look forward to a day in the near future where I will be able to say "Hey, nothing hurts today!" This hope is NOT too good to be true because Jehovah God ALWAYS fulfills his promises. (Isaiah 46:9, 10) |

Part of my looking for the things I CAN do is my efforts in the Bible Education work that Jehovah's Witnesses take part in. I have been able to Aux. Pioneer (which means spending a minimum of 50 hours per month encouraging others to study their Bibles) occaisionally and in "less good" months, still manage around 8 - 10. I do a large part of this through Email and Snailmail since I am unable to get out of the house much. In years past, a disability such as mine would mean isolation but thanks to today's technology, I am able to attend the Meetings at the Kingdom Hall by phone and visit with others through the phone and the Internet. If anyone reading this would like to have Bible questions answered or needs to know where to find encouragement when dealing with problems, please feel free to email me. |
