To:  Senior General Than Shwe, Lt. General Khin Nyunt and the SPDC

Myo Min Zaw, alias Moe Hein Aung, was a 22-year old English student and student leader from Myanmar. He helped to organise peaceful demonstrations and distribute information to protest against the poor quality of education and the human rights situation in Burma. He was arrested in September 1998, accused of agitating unrestEand sentenced to 52 years imprisonment.

Amnesty International considers Myo Min Zaw to be a prisoner of conscience detained solely because of the non-violent expression of his beliefs. We respectfully request the authorities to release Myo Min Zaw immediately and unconditionally.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
