Shooting Stars
I stood under the evening sky
beneath a waxing moon
remembering the day gone bye
quickly ending all too soon.
Reflecting upon you and I
lovers that we had been
a small tear graced my eye
at rememberances of when
The night held silent
seeming reverance of my dispair
suddenly the darkness sent
a tear of it's own to share
It blazed across the heavens
so quickly it was gone
I felt a closeness to this dying star
like love so quickly it is gone
blazing bright with it's newness
heavens glory shining new
quietly fading out and trailing
tears when it like love is through
and so like that shooting star
your memory blazed through me
and just as quickly burned away
becoming a twilight memory
The Battle
I saw it coming
and prepared for the battle
strengthened my defenses
built the walls a little higher
a little thicker
I donned my armor
heavy in it's weight
but neccessary
I gathered my army about me
laid carefully the battle plans
and waited for the onslaught
to begin
The battle cry rang out
I took a steadying breath
prepared for the worst
and you came
rushing the gates
pounding upon the walls
a steady rythmn
like a heartbeat drummed
the ground shook
I could feel the walls crack
I hurled all my defenses at you
but still you came
one by one I saw my army fall
sarcasm stubborness and pride
my finest generals lay there dying
and still you came
now my walls lay scattered around me
my armor falling away
all my defenses gone
the battle is over
you have won
my heart
Thunder Lightning Rain
My heart beats like thunder
when I hear your name
your kiss felt like lightning
and I can't stand the pain
of lightening
of thunder
of tears
falling like rain.
I watched you as you
packed your things
and walked right out the door
you said that you were sorry
but you could'nt take anymore
and watching you walk down the road
the thunder called your name
and lightening rippled through the skies
and my tears
they fell like the rain.
And sometimes when
a storm blows in
I listen to the skies
the thunder calls
your name again
bitter memories
flash by
like lightning
like thunder
and my tears
fall with the rain.
Now I could say I'm sorry
and beg you to forgive
but we both know
you had to go
you have a life to live
without the thunder
without the lightning
and tears falling like rain.
and now the storm has lifted
and sunshine fills the skies
the thunder in the distance
calls to me your goodbye
and lightning flashes thoughts of you
sparking through my mind
and the rain washed away
the tears that you left behind.
