The following is a rather loose collection of original Merits and Flaws designed by me or the troupe I play with. They may be updated, edited, or otherwise tampered with over time. If you have a major, horrible problem with one of them, e-mail me and let me know about it! I do take outside criticism under advisement.
Discipline-based Flaws
Inability to use own Clan's signature discipline: Three point Flaw. (Tremere/Thaumaturgy, Lasombra/Obtenebration, Salubri/Obeah, ect.) A signature discipline is hereby defined as one native to only one clan/bloodline.
Inability to use non-signature discpline of own clan: Two point Flaw. Note here that this is the loss of a clan disipline. You don't get to pick some other discipline. The character pays 'in-clan' rates on his remaining two disciplines, and can never learn the third.
Elders only: Inability to learn/use a common non-clan discipline. One to Two point Flaw. There was a fair bit of debate on whether or not the three Physical disciplines, Fortitude, Potence, and Celerity, should be 'more common' than the others. For this write-up, I suggest that the loss of a Physical discipline not native to one's clan counts for two points, while the loss of some other common, non-clan discipline counts for one. Common Disciplines are here defined as 'any discipline held by two or more Camarilla clans'. StoryTellers may wish to limit the number of times this Flaw may be taken.
Elders only: Inability to ever learn any non-clan discipline: Three to Five point Flaw. The exact value of this Flaw is probably best decided by the Storyteller, based on how common a wide Discipline spread is in your game. It's an Elder-Only Flaw because in many games starting with neonate level characters, learning out-of-clan disciplines is wildly unlikely already. Storytellers! Keep this one in mind carefully if you allow it! This means a (probably) 500+ Vampire that is incapable of learning anything but the three Disciplines he started with. It will force what may be much higher Discipline ratings in those three.
We passed over things like Elder Flaws for not learning out-of-clan Signature disciplines as being probably too minor to need inclusion.
