07-12-2003 Jared is now 17m old. he walks but does not talk yet, he can say momma, dadada, zizz (for sissy) and what sounds like kiki (for or kitty) he will not say the sounds (example he will not call me mamma) to the person or about the person. he will not look for the person example if asked where's daddy? he will not look for daddy. he only makes grunting and screaming noises. is hearing is fine he goes back in less than 6m for a recheck on his hearing. Jared does have a speech lady come every Tue. to work with him on his speech. it has even been suggested that Jared might have a little Autism but I do not believe that as he is a loving cuddling child.



8-30-03 Jared is growing like a weed, he is getting taller but he still can not talk, he does not know who momma or daddy is verbally but he can recognize us visually. i went to take him in for his hearing apt and was told we cant do him here as he is not 3y and he must go to KU med center again, ughhh, that's an hr away. Jared is still working with his speech lady Julia and she comes to the house every Tuesday. she and I talked about this DR that's coming to the house in Sept as he will evaluate Jared to see if he needs further evaluation for autism as Jared should have made some progress and since he has not he has even regressed some there is more concern, Jared is a sweet boy, but he can not even say simple sounds at this time :(

On a lighter note Jared gets to start his Parents as Teachers program again and he is starting play group w/ kids his own age :)

12-11-03 Jared went to a neurologist on Dec 1st and it was a disaster, first off we get to Children's mercy which is an hour away by 2pm check in time is 230pm and apt is 3pm DR makes us wait till 6pm while he does dictation the nurses had even left the office by the time the DR saw us. the jerk DR told us yes Jared is slow, he has some Dev delays, some muscle weakness and if I want to push it he'll order a EKG to rule out seizures and if Jared is still not talking by age 12-14y then come back BS im going to talk to Jared's PED to see what she says. Jared can say some sounds now i.e....paaaaa for pop caaaa for car, shooooo for shoe and the sounds shaaaaa, aaaaaa and sheeeeee and zzzzzz sounds he is greatly improving YES!!!!!!! I will update more as I go.

12-23-2003 Jared will be 2 in Feb and he is seeing an occupational therapist weekly and a speech therapist bi-weekly and he still can not
talk, he is getting better though as he can now say some sounds deliberately i.e.... Pop --- paaaa, car-----caaaaaa, daaaaa daaaaaa for dad, ssshessss for yes, he can now shake his head no and it means no lol lol we are still working on shaking his head yes for yes, I took him to his Dr. yesterday for the fact he is falling so much and im
afraid he'll crack his skull well DR wants an EEG done to rule out
mini seizures and we are going to get a second opinion from another neurologist (YEA!!) I explained to the DR about how Jared can be standing, sitting, or walking and fall for no reason and the falling is getting worse I really thought he had an ear infection or something but DR wants to rule out seizures, I have never heard of seizures where you can be standing for example and just fall for no reason, I started righting down the falls one weekend only to see that he was falling about 3 times a day doing different things, the occupational therapist said yesterday that it could be where his brain is having mini seizures like a bunch of zapping lights in his head that aren't connected or something like that (?) she also wants us to get Jared tested by a genietitest (sp?). I'll keep you updated when we go see the new neurologist as they are going to put my baby out to do the EEG. I am not to happy with the idea of them putting Jared out but at least we can rule out seizures!!!!!!!!

01-30-2004 Jared has made some wonderful progress, he is speaking more sounds and even on 1-22-04 Jared even went up to Danny (his dad) and said 'DA DA' we were all so happy, he addressed da da to his daddy :) I even marked it on the calendar. now Jared need to call me ma ma but that will come. Jared goes for his EEG on Feb 9th at KU MED. We ended up taking him to an emergency Neurologist a couple weeks ago because he fell and hit his head 1 time too many and I called our Ped and begged please can we do something, anything as im really worried about his falls, well the next day we were able to get him in to KU for a second opinion with another Neurologist and we took his CT scan he had done 2wks prior and the Nero said Jared has an A-symmetrical on the left side of his brain. basically means he has a pocket of fluid around his brain that is bigger that normal and he might have brain damage which might be why he is behind and possible seizures. so that is the jest of it. but on an even better note its great to hear him trying to talk :)

Jared was Diagnosed with Hypotonia on 2-17-04, he also has developmental delays. Hypotonia means low mussel tone i.e. rubber body or weak muscles.

03-06-04 Jared went to the E.N.T DR  on wed and that DR wants to do surgery and put tubes in Jared's ears, i have a problem with this as the day before Jared was in to his Ped. for dehydration and the Ped. checked his ears a said they were good but then this DR say his ears are bad and want surgery. then the next day on  Thursday the 4th Jared went to KU MED center for his evaluation with the developmental disabilities team of DR's and they to checked his ears and found them clean, so needless to say were getting a second opinion for on surgery as I DO NOT want him to have unnecessary surgery he does not need. will update more as it happens.
