Today I woke up at about 12:00 and went on the comp to discover that my dad threw away all 4 gigs of my mp3's. I got really angry, which I never do, because he didn't even ask or think to look in the folder that said "Alana's music" before he threw it away. There isn't any way to recover them because the computer overwrites the original files, so I am quite upset about that. I only have a couple of mp3's by sunny day real estate that I've just downloaded. Napster is changing soon, so it will be impossible to get the same music through that.

Yesterday was really fun though. Jenn called me at about 1:00 and we went to trader joe's to get food. I hadn't been there since the round about was put in, and was amazed at the decorative corn motif surrounding the area. We saw the bus for de la soul, and I got some thai tofu and cereal and such. I got home at about 3:00 and promptly fell asleep.

Mike called at 5:30, and I kinda woke up to plan for him to come pick me up for homecoming at 7:00. I got up again at 6:30 and put my dress on and put my hair part up part down. My mom was being problematic and telling me I looked bad, but it didn't really phase me. Mike came at 7:00 and I was almost as tall as his 6' with heels (scary!). The other day when I was at his house his mom was amazed that I am taller than her. She told me tbat when I was little I wouldn't let my mom cut my nails but I would let her. He brought me a rose coursage from his garden that smells really good, and then we escaped, but not before lots of pictures and my dad telling him that he looks like Elvis (that was really frightening). He has sideburns so I guess that is it, but I thought that it was more of a Morrissey-esque look. He had a nice black suit on, and I thought it would be funny if we went out to eat at some fast food restaurant in our glamourous clothing. We went to presto pasta where I got angelhair, and then to Subway where Michael got a sandwich.

We drove to the beach to eat and talked politics. I gave Mike a Nadar pin to wear on Tuesday, I saw this great slogan that said "Nadar is not a four letter word" as Bush and Gore are. After eating we drove over to his house and his mom and Nathan took pictures of us with their digital camera. Joel said that he saw my mom on tv, I guess she was on some educational program. We got to city college at 9:00 and went to the cafeteria where the dance was being held. We went in and got in line for pictures, and Mike introduced me to lots of people from his school.

It was funny because the photographer knew Michael from senior pictures so he kept making us change position and our head tilting angle. We went into the cafeteria but no one was dancing, which was odd. It was like being back in elementary school when the guys are on one side and the girls are on the other and no one really knows what to do. I really wanted to show him the garden at night, so we sleathily stole away from the dance because no one was allowed to leave.

When we got back to the dance they were playing 80's so I was excited and pulled him onto the dance floor. After that lots of people started dancing, and it was really fun. We made up inventive moves like the soccer mom arm save and I taught him how to tango. He is really good at the moon walk, as I found out when Michael Jackson came on. We saw Aron and Samara come in so we talked for a bit, and Aron told me that he is bringing my book to CC on Tuesday for sure. They were playing disco, and he said that Katelyn should have been there.

We went outside and sat down when eminem came on, and met this guy named Zack. Then we went back inside and Michael saw Kelson, and went up to reintroduce us. He came over and hugged me, but it was really weird seeing him because I haven't seen him in so long. The dance ended at about 11:30, and Mike was pretty hoarse from having talked over the music all night so we went in search of coffee but the only place open was hot spots which was in the opposite direction. He drove me home and I made him hot chocolate which reminded me of the shonen knife song by the same name. It was a really fun dance, and once I get pictures from Mike I'll put them on the site.
