San Francisco Sunset

Angela & I
after a long day of walking
Fisherman's Wharf
bustling frenetic
active movement
of the tourist
strip- the best place
to spend cash
on magnets & t-shirts & beer steins
& other Golden Gate
Alcatraz Redwood
paraphernalia

Angela & I
sat on a corner concrete bench
eating clam chowder
in edible bread bowls
watching
birds- pigeons-
flip & flit & flutter
& a man beating the blues out of a keyboard
working the corner venue

then a long walk in cool March late afternoon
Angela & I
approached
the beach that was at least relatively removed
from the moving mass of tourism

Angela & I
sat
on the cool-wind-
coming-in beach
the wandering rays of sunlight
gold now
waiting their cue to go
the bridge & hills & water & birds
take the landscape from postcards
& emboss the broad bay
