Campaign Creation
Campaign Creation for Enemy Gods is made of the following, interlocking steps:
Genre
- Talk about Inspirado: What books/movies/myths/comics/other games can we steal from?
- Establish a mythological tone: Norse, Greek, Chinese, Sword 'n' Sorcery, Fantasy, Neil Gaiman, etc.
- Player Agenda: In broad strokes, what are people looking for?
The Gods
- Choose the Type of Domains: Fields of endeavour? Emotions/Passions? Elements, etc.
- Brainstorm Domains: The Domains of the Gods tell you what the game is about.
- Traditionally Off-Limits Domains: Death, chaos/Evil, Magic
- Discuss some common tasks in-game tasks. Figure out collectively which Domain they fall under.
How do you climb a wall? Pick a lock? Seduce someone?
- List some sample Miracles/Gifts for each God. Don't sweat mechanics just now.
- Who are the Enemy Gods?
- What is the Agenda of each God?
The World
- Scope: One city? An archipelago? A vast wilderness, dotted with migratory tribes?
- Brainstorm setting tropes.
- Geography, History, Civlization.
- What is the great conflict(s) of this world?
- What is the great threat to the world?
The Story
- What is the Story about?
- Brainstorm Theme, Motif, etc.
- What is the Scope of the Story?
- Kickers: Will they be group? Individual? Both?
- Who will the Heroes be?
