As they test the three pilots, a new type of Angel attacks. The Angel is made of microscopic parts and tries to hack into the MAGI computers that control NERV. It takes control two of the three computers and tries to start the base's self-destruct. Ritsuko must race to defeat the Angel by regaining control of the MAGI. In the end, the Angel is defeated just seconds before it takes over all three MAGI computers. In this episode, the past couple of months are replayed in a montage of images, emotions, and facts. The events from the first episode to the present are recapped. At the end, we see Rei holding a large red weapon and walking down a long corridor.
