Asuka arrives in Tokyo-3 and becomes very popular. A new Angel attacks, Asuka fights it but it can instantly replicate itself so it defeats both Shinji and Asuka. They decide to attack the Angel with two Evangelions working completely together. Misato takes in Asuka so she can lean how to work with Shinji. For the plan to work the two pilots must work in perfect synchronization with each other. In the end, they defeat the Angel and they both go back to fighting with each other. Asuka and Shinji planed on going on a school trip but they have to stay in Tokyo-3. A new Angel is found unborn in an active volcano. Asuka is sent down to capture it for study but in the process, the Angel is born. Asuka uses the coolant from her Evangelion's suit to destroy the Angel, but her line is cut and she starts to fall. Shinji save her by diving in and grabbing her.
