This was NERV's big chance to study a unborn Angel but it ended in failure. The Angel was found in an active volcano still in pupa form. NERV planed to capture/kill the Angel before it became an adult. It grew to its adult size in the middle the capture operation. It almost destroyed Unit-02 in the process but was destroyed. Eva-02 was saved by Eva-01 when it jumped into and pulled it out.
Profile: It's body is able to withstand high temperatures and enormous amounts of pressure.
Fate: The Eighth Angel was destroyed by Eva-02 using its coolant system.
