The Second Angel to attack in the series was the serpent/insect like Shamshel. Unit-01 was sent to battle again, using a machine gun, which had no effect. During the battle it was able to cut the power cord giving Shinji only 5 minutes to destroy the Angel. During the last few minutes Shinji was able to charge the Angel with his Progressive Knife and destroy its S2 engine.
Profile: It had energy whips that could slice through any object. It also had the ability to fly.
Fate: Shamshel was killed and remained intact therefore NERV scientists carefully studied it.
Notes: Shamshel is the patron Angel of Day. He was a "watcher" who taught men the signs of the sun.
